merry misti-rious car-fei
Warning:
Heavy loading of images and a long read ahead. Be prepared for a wee bit of wait. That’s what happens when you try to squeeze in as many photos of a 4-day trip and talk about everything in one post!

The four of us — angel, winn, sengkor and I — planned a Christmas trip down South to the neighbouring Singapore for a little festive celebration, and of course, to meet up with the ever bubbly-licious carcar, the mysterious mistipurple and almost philosophical seefei!
Accompanied by carcar and her friend, JV who was also visiting from KL, we traipsed around parts of the island armed with our cameras and appetites. The lights were twinkling, the views mesmerising, and the ambience just simply fantastic! Ok, it was actually very crowded especially on Orchard Road and at the major shopping malls, it was at a hectic and frenzied pace till we daren’t “divide and conquer”, but rather huddled closely together like a flock of lost sheep.

One of our reasons for visiting Singapore was to see the Christmas decorations, and we certainly weren’t disappointed with what the streets and malls had to offer. There were beautifully decorated trees, trees, and more trees everywhere we went! Check out the 12 Days of Christmas tree, found in front of the Tanglin Mall. We even trudged in the rain for a good 10 minutes just to see the tree and marvel at the cool figurines. Ok-lah, you could blame me, I was the one who dragged the others to the end of the world just to satisfy my childlike curiosity… Thank you for teman-ing me, girls!
We also visited the Esplanade where the “durians” were, cam-whored at the ever-famous iconic Merlion, had drinks Holland Village, shopped at Bugis Junction, and even had a peek at the Asia Bar on the 71st floor of the Swissotel The Stamford.

Our appetites weren’t the least disillusioned either with the scrumptious food we devoured. Siew loong paus and noodles at Din Tai Fung, gingerbread latte at Starbucks, rice burgers at Mos Burgers, a wonderful Chinese dinner at Intercontinental (heartfelt thanks to carcar’s friend Michael for this treat), platters full of surprises at Tao’s courtesy of mistipurple, and a smiley star-studded steamboat at carcar’s where seefei was gracious enough to give us a ride to her place from the MRT station. Xie xie for cooking a scrumptious pot of Singapore-styled hokkien mee for us too, carcar! Gracias to her landlady as well for the huge breakfast on Saturday morning and the use of her place for our little get-together!

One of the best moments — opening our presents! Thank you angel for the Mickey Mouse phone holder and glow-in-the-dark keychain, winn for the white fluffy teddy bear (it’ll always remind me of Liucas), sengkor for the Santa snowglobe on a plane, carcar for the Ritter Sport and pretty coaster, mistipurple for the sweet mobile phone lingling, and seefei for the fridge magnet!
Thank you everyone for your company, the lame jokes, the different sleeping positions, the car rides, the cam-whoring, the rush to open the windows, the jamming session, the food, the maps, the Wi-Fi, the laughter, the impromptu caroling, the desserts, the beds, the mattress, the rain, the blingblings, the sotsots, the liulius, the best Christmas ever.
Oh, and since it was raining almost every night in Singapore and we missed the Night Safari, the “animals” in the apartment decided to parade around for us to make up for the lack of four-legged friends. Special thanks to sengkor’s friends for letting us stay at their place for the duration of our visit! We aired the rooms, watered the plants and fed the fish as diligently as we could, every day. And I hope the air-freshener is still fresh when you get home…
…the end.

Nice nice! Haven’t been to Singapore since I was 12!
Somehow, my parents have this ‘thing’ against Australia and Singapore. I dunno lah.
Good that you had such a GREAT time in Singapore! Anymore updates?
wah! sure sounds like you all had a great time!! Love all the photos
*hugs*
You mentioned exchanging presents, were they bought from Kiasuland or Bolehland?
Glad to hear you had a great time, all charged up to face what 2007 has to offer?

how i wish i was there wiht u gals and one boy….lol. xmas in singapore must b a totally different sexperiance huh? maybe one day maybe. do they hv fishball noodles by the side of a dirty drain? i can only hv one with a dirty drain fill with rodents worrrr….lol.
Christmas in Asia is always very happening. All 3 8 and San Jing go out of town to see X’mas trees like never see before. Make the complexes, streets and every corner people mountain people sea. Food and goods all also hike up because of the influx of foreigners. Thanks to over-commercialization.
But in OZ or NZ, most people will celebrate with their loved ones at home. Because the whole streets and all shopping malls will be closed for one whole week for the festive season. That’s why there is a song goes like this:
Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright…
And that’s also why I’m dreaming of a white Christmas…
sin ling - 5!! don’t you sleep?!!
yes, one of the most memorable Christmases I’ve ever had! since my family and I don’t really celebrate it much, it’s a really nice change to be out of the house and about in a foreign land. Ritter Sport is my favourite too! much cheaper in Singapore and duty free as well, but still a little pricey for that small block of choc. come, have some! *breaks a generous portion of Ritter Sport with whole Almonds for you…*
princess a - 3!! don’t you sleep either?!! hair not dry yet ka?
don’t zzzzz, morning oredi, wake up wake up wake up!! *yawwwwwnnnnn…*
plink - 1!! ok, you’re excused, I know it’s too early to sleep where you are! LOL! carcar can cookcook lots of other things too, like pan-fried salmon! and yummy chicken broth for steamboat. yumyum, I could almost imagine myself biting into a fishball again… *ngiappppp*
KLANG KLANG - don’t you just wish you were here? you could’ve jingled all the way with us!! hmmmm, then again, you’d have absolutely hated the wet wet rain, the loud people, the BO, and abhored the crowds! hahaha! much better staying at home with the 12 days of Christmas, and some French hens in cute little frenchmaid outfits, yes?
TUX - I think there’s a sale going on in Singapore, but we didn’t buy much. too crowded, too little time! just managed to do a bit of shopping at the Apple Store (but of course!!), and also checked out Vivo City and Bugis Junction for a bit. no serious spree, not quite worth it, actually…
winn - me too me too me too!! and this time, I wanna be Co-Pilot and 3rd Navigator too! I’ll remember to bring some air-freshener with us this time, all sorts of nice scents for every room. and lots of fish food for the fishies. you forgot to flush?!! imagine that smell mixed with the other smell… triple quadruple eewwwwwwwww!!
moopig - there was a time when I didn’t go to Singapore for a good many years too, at least 10. then suddenly, I’ve made more trips this year (both business & pleasure) than I have in the last 4 years! might have another update on the trip, we’ll see. awwwww, your parents don’t like Oz? but you like Oz, don’t you? can come visit me mah!
consuela - and excellent, fabulous time! despite the rain, and the humid weather. glad you liked the photos! I had such a hard time choosing what to show, I had taken so many. more than 500 shots! how was your Christmas break?
just me - all bought from Bolehland, of course! pre-wrapped with love before heading down to Kiasuland. can’t be seen buying gifts on the spot and wrapping them up an hour before the exchange, can I? hahahahaha! things aren’t all that cheap down South anyway. 2007 is just a few days away, but like all the other New Years, it’s just another ordinary long weekend for me… *grin*
princess a - that’s why la, I took so long to post about the trip!! had to fit in this lah, that lah, leave some censored bits out… *ahem!* ok laaaaa, I’ll do another post in a few days, about some of the sights. I still have lots of photos I wanna show off, hahahahaha!
that “black thing with 3 flowers”… isn’t that something you gave to winn or sengkor ah? or was it just something thrown in to make up the numbers? LOL! yea, we divided and conquered twice then, once to the faraway place, and the other to do last minute “chores”.
you’re most welcum on the gifts! muah muah muah!!
not so anonymous will - that’s such a cool shot, if I may say so myself!! I think one of the girls had that idea and we crowded round the biggest reflective ornament we could find in Takashimaya. I’m sure it could fit it more than the 6 of us if need be!
Ben - can, caaaannnn!! next year your turn, you come to KL first ok? then we io ka ch’ng all the way down to Singapore for some merry making!
kee at ticks - ya man, there were more ‘lubangs’ than there were ‘batangs’!! wakakakaka! I’m sure you would’ve enjoyed yourself with us, we’re such a fun bunch… *ahem*
no fishball noodles by the side of any drain, clean or dirty, for that matter! in fact, I only chanced upon a fishball noodle shop in a food court, and I didn’t even order that for lunch. luckily I had my share of bola-bola at carcar’s steamboat feast.
titoki - in Oz and NZ, they’re having a hot and sunny Christmas, haha! no white ones for them, unless they head up to the mountains. yea, Christmas is very commercialised in Asia, and so it is everywhere else, especially in the big cities, where almost every retailer takes the opportunity to earn big bucks. but who cares?!! we’re just in it for the fun, the company, and the laughter! *grin*
wahh.. fun filled trip eh…
the forecast said it would rain in KL for days over the xmas hols.. i brought my umbrella & water proof jacket all the time, but it did not rain! err.. may be just once.
hahaha! wat a heavy post this is! but great post! more decent
kekeke…
u are indeed superb, can ’summarised’ and make it in a ‘one and for all’ post!
and present it in a neat and clean layout! indeed it was a wet, messy, dirty, sweat, sticky, laugh till pengsan, full and burp, day and night! walk and walk (U LAH!!) jam and klang! tree and lighting, mudpie and coffee…etc….
*tired*
session!
nice!
come to think of it, i forgot to straighten the corner of the blanket. since i still have the keys, shall we…?
aiyo.. i din realize the ornaments represent the ‘12 days of christmas’!! i tot they went and hung up nutcrackers!! =P wouldnt it be cool though??? ahahha
You squeeze 4 days trip into one post? How can! We want to see more and read more!!!
Go mountain oso got no snow.
That’s why I’m dreaming of a white christmas…
huar… wah wha wah wah wah… best… I like all your stuff..

so ‘ho miang’. what a merry Christmas indeed!
ubisetela - uh-huh, dark and stormy skies of late, but no rain except for last night, I think. but for the last few weeks it had been raining cats and dogs, with the usual flooding too! you must’ve timed your trip very nicely then, to escape the rain. better to be safe with an umbrella at hand, than to be a sorry wet kitty walking in the rain, yea? *wink*
carcar - all-in-ones are the best kind, yatt ngan took sai mah! no need to wait for part 2… and part 3… and more parts until become sien a bit lor. so I faster faster get it all out in one go, heheh!
thank you so much for letting me bunk at your place on Friday night! really appreciate all the help you’ve given in giving tips on what trains to take and where to go for the best sights in town. oh, and for your tour-guide narration too!! ladies and gentlemen, girls and boys, we have arrived at… so funny!
B I G T H A N K Y O U H U G S F O R Y O U C A R C A R ! !
sengkor - oooh, ya ka? summore winn forgot to flush the toilet liao, sure stink-o by now until worse that the other smell!! jom, let’s go Friday, cumbek Monday, want? *packs bags for another 2 weeks*
ChristinE - you’ve never sang the song, 12 Days of Christmas before? I think I even copied you a version of the Chipmunks singing that tune! it’s a long song since everything’s repeated a few times, like “99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall”… can sing till cows climb trees and pigs fly free!
Hijackqueen - how can? can!! see? did it already, hahahahaha! actually hor, I did leave out a few parts. ok lah, maybe just one more posts for a few of the sights around the island, yea? but not so soon, have other posts planned for now, must put in queue!
now.. lets get back to singing.. ’siiiiiilent nigggggght.. hooooolyy nigggggght..’
titoki - mountain also no snow? sure got wan! otherwise how to film those freezing cold scenes for LOTR leh? and skiing at the slopes? ok, nearest snow-capped peaks would be at Antartica! pack some ice back too, while you’re at it. make some ice kacang…
velverse - still waiting for your gifts in exchange leh! poor Santa is going giddy in his snowglobe with all that shaking, LOL! *offers you the other half-eaten bar of Ritter Sport*
Jane - great trip, fun trip! Bangkok would be a nice idea for a Christmas trip, or just a quick getaway, yes? I love your photos of the elephants! so many of my friends have been to Bangkok already, I really must get myself on that plane… someday… soon…
Monkticon - really? you were in Indonesia when the tsunami happened? which part, Jakarta? such a tragedy. could hardly believe it when I saw those satellite photos of Aceh… *sigh*
bkworm - Merrily Very Christmas! I read that you had a pretty good one too, with your family and in-laws. school is starting next week, yea? enjoy the long weekend as much as you can with Little Bkworm!
ChristinE - quick, faster learn it up! L B is doing a great job teaching the lyrics and the meaning behind each icon on his 12 Days of Christmas post, LOL!
on the twelveth day of Christmas, my True Love gave to me…
12 drummers drumming,
11 pipers piping,
10 lords a-leaping,
9 ladies a-dancing,
8 maids a-milking,
7 swans a-swimming,
6 geese a-laying,
5 gold rings…
4 calling birds,
3 french hens,
2 turtle doves…
and a partridge in a pear treeeeeee!!
may, hope you have a wonderful, wonderul year ahead of you!

I was in Tawangmangu, Jawa Central when the Tsunami hits, its in the mountains la..so we wasn’t affected but was terrified with the news…then most of my friends send me sms and ask if I’m still alive or dead…LOL~! what a crazy question!

LOTRs used manmade snow laa. So fake liddat can die.
Only 3 8 and San Jing tourists who never see snow before will flock to the mountain top like bees to honey or moths to fire. These people sooo stooopid can die. Muahahahaha.
I like the REAL thing, ‘ya know?
With REAL snow flakes which are clean and crystal clear. Put in mouth also it will melt like a sweet ice popsicle.

Pink Cotton - yea, I was “kidnapped” by some “aliens” for a trip down South! too bad, they didn’t think I was that valuable, so my kidnapping days were short-lived. another 2 (and a half) days, and it’ll be 2007… how time flies! *brings out the fireworks*
kat - you’re most welcome! glad you liked the little bears. would’ve put more but I thought it might get overcrowded in that envelope, heheh. ya lor, you should’ve just hailed a taxi, get to carcar’s place, chomp down as many fishballs as possible, and catch the flight 10 minutes before departure! waisehhhh… s’ok, let’s have another round of fishball steamboat here!
Monkticon - oooh, good that you weren’t anywhere nearby then. it would’ve still been rather chaotic with the news of the tsunami anyway, hor? not crazy question mah, I’m sure your friends wanted to see who inherits which Transformer patung from you! LOL! choi choi choi!!
