very lucky ducky indeed
I must be the luckiest girl over the weekend.
No, didn’t strike any lottery, or inherit a multi-million-dollar trust fund, or find a very rich Sugar Daddy. Didn’t even pick up 10 cents from the roadside. But it was close enough.
Let me relate to you two incidences which had “saved” me lots of money and definitely loads of trouble.
The Night Before Mango Loh
Honorary Dinner & Dessert Guests:
Angel, nyonyapenang, Chen, sengkor, ah nel, JL, _butt, will, Winn.
Friday night, I had met up with some of the usual suspects and new bodies for dinner at King Crab, and then some sweet dessert at KTZ (Kei Tak Zek) in SS2. For related posts, please read here, here, here, here, here, here and here. I was a little late to dinner, tired from the day’s toil and nearly falling asleep after some delicious Marmite® crab. Not that the company was boring, they were a great bunch! I was doing a Winn and melayang-layang-ing due to a long day at work.
When we arrived at KTZ, I hopped over to a bank nearby to deposit a cheque. I’d taken out my wallet to check my account number which I had written down somewhere. After doing my ‘business’, I went back to KTZ to join the rest for some ice-cold dessert. About half an hour later, maybe more (I wasn’t watching the time), I received a phone call from an unknown number.
Me: Hello?
Caller: Hello… is this May?
Me: Yes…
Caller: Did you drop your wallet in front of the bank?
Me: ?!!! (quickly checks my bag… OMG!! Where’s my wallet?!)
Me: Yes YES! I did! Did you find it?
Caller: Yes, I have it.
Me: Where are you?
Caller: I’m in front of the bank.
Me: Ok, I’m coming now, I’m nearby. Wait ya!!
I rushed back to the bank and collected my precious wallet from the Caller, thanking the person profusely. What a good Samaritan! And I’m so so SO lucky to have my wallet back. I didn’t even realise I had dropped it when I was at the bank. The contents were all intact, including the big amount of $$ I had withdrawn earlier in the morning. Yes, thank my very lucky stars! And bless that Samaritan Caller.

Saturday brunch was at Friendster™ cafe at Damansara Perdana. I finally had the honour to meet see fei after a couple of missed opportunities. The place had a great ambience and setting for a small group meet. The food wasn’t totally fantastic, but they had good presentation in the least.
As usual, we sat there yakking away, this time for a good 5 hours. 5 HOURS?! Yes, we were that cheong hei. But I’m not complaining, it was truly a fun time chatting, watching a game of Chinese chess, and writing & hanging our wishes on top of their tree. All too soon, it was time to head off for an early evening movie so we all said our goodbyes around 4 p.m. I rummaged through my handbag for my car keys…
Alamak! Where are my car keys?!!
I poured out almost all the contents from my handbag, yet still no car keys in sight. They definitely weren’t in my pocket. And since I didn’t go anywhere else, they had to be somewhere in the cafe. Or… in my car?
I quickly went to where my car was parked (thank goodness, right in front) and peeped in. Sure enough, there it was, stuck in the ignition. And my car was unlocked too, obviously. WAAAAA!! Was I lucky or was I lucky that my car was still there?! I had left my PDA in the glove compartment as well, and it was still intact. Another lucky strike!
So hor…
On both occasions, it was almost as good as striking the lottery. I didn’t have to cancel my cards, make a police report, get a new IC, buy a new car, bawl my eyes out and have a rotten year end. Someone up there must really like me. Thank You for the early Christmas ‘present’!
