short takes 19.10.06

It’s been awhile since I wrote some short takes. Little excerpts of what’s happening in the pockets of my life. And some melancholic pondering.
First things first, Happy Birthday to Kitty Kat! Wishing you lots of joy and wonderful years ahead. Hugs & Kisses to ya!
And continuing on with my ramblings…
Is it just me, or is blogsphere slowing down somewhat? Posts getting weirder, comments getting shorter and in less frequency. Hmmm… yea, I think maybe it’s just me. Too much thinking. Gah.
It’s a slightly quiet period at work as well. It could be due to the upcoming festivities, where everyone’s in a holiday mood. Me… I’m just in a mood. Sometimes out of mood. It’s procrastination speaking.
I had an unpleasant task of telling a staff some “bad news” yesterday. It’s tough on the emotions and trying not to feel guilty about it, though there’s really nothing to feel guilty about, since it’s part of the job. But I feel bad nonetheless. I wish I didn’t have to do it.
I’m itching to buy new gadgets and stuff. That Wacom Graphire 4 mini tablet sounds quite tempting, now that I’m tinkering more with Illustrator®. How about a nice new pair of sunglasses? Been eyeing a pair of simple Oakleys that just might do the job.
Only 2.5 more months to go before 2006 is out. Time sure does fly when you’re not looking. Why does it crawl, though, when you want it to speed up and skip through all the unpleasantries, and let us experience just the good parts?
How does one know when to hang on, and when to let go? Do we let it die a natural silent death, or make that speech to utter those final words?
It’s troubling how certain people could affect me so… so emotionally. I’d love to tell them how my every day happiness sometimes depends on the little things they do or say. But by doing that, would I be scaring them away, knowing how much I rely on them for something they’re unprepared for, for something they don’t want responsibility for? It’s quite a scary thought, having someone count on you to feel happy. I scare even myself with this confession.
I should learn the art of detachment. Some have even perfected it.
Really looking forward to the HO KWAI FAAN™ RETIREMENT HOME and watch Uncle Ho DVDs all day, all night. Ho Ho Ho.
zzzz… zzzz… zzzz…

Ah! The Art of Detachment! Even better than Sun Tzu’s Art of War.. LOL.. well, maybe not.
Hello Darkness, my old friend… ~ The Sound of Silence..
Perhaps we tend to think too much, read too much into things, most of them mainly innocuous. We create storms in teacups, for the sake of it. Life is too short to hold all that negativity. Yet, the bigger picture isn’t something that comes by easily, huh? Detachment.. attachment.. detachment.. attachment.. Bah! Thunderstorms on Saucers, sometimes. HUGGIES & KISSIES XXX
ps: It’s the HO KWAI FAAN™ RETIREMENT IGLOO now..
hehe be a heartless robot [o-o]
keep on drawring may, you is getting gooder and gooder.
The Art of Detachment, nearly perfected it but it can be lonely sometime.
Aiya!! just tell them what you like lor. If they do it after you told them to, then it won’t mean anything anymore, right?? Hmmm…Tell also cannot, don’t tell also cannot!!!
I am sure everyone has their own worries/problems to take care of first mah. So, no worry, once they took care of their problems, they will show up with an open mind and happy heart
Sometimes it does not pay to keep things inside. Better to live alive, than just keep your life hidden inside you. Take risks. Nuthin’ ventured, nuthin’ gained.
So many different thing you’ve written…hmm…let me go back and read it over again….
you’re getting better each day my dear. i really enjoy reading your blog.
Sometimes I wish I can be more a player than a spectator. It does get lonely at times, sitting there watching people play all the time. And no, please don’t practise the art of detachment…just don’t be too attached-lor!
Would it scare you if someone comes up to you and tell you that you make them happy? I’d be happy if I knew someone even thinks of me!! Like getting a birthday message from you!
..thanks so much, luv! It means a lot to me..
Go and get yourself something nice. Hope you feel better soon! *big hugs and kisses*
do wat ur heart tells u to honey.. no regrets in life. double muaccks!!
Hang in there… soul food is around when you need them

Whatever that we might think of or do, it’s just good to know we have done the best and there should be no regrets
To be truly happy is not easy… but the little bumps we get will make us treasure it more
Listen to the little voice within, follow through and you’ll be fine…
Hugs!!!
wahhhhhhhhhh..these ppl no nid to sleep ka?…sam kang poon yeh oso..online geh?…
life always up n down, stay strong n look forward. Eh… the ice cream looks nice la… :P~~~ (lao hao sui)
When in a mood, we spend $$$ loh… instand mood lifters
Weird posts? Ya, I know mine has been weird… but Eccentric is my hidden middle name… shhh… a skeleton in My Closet…
Temporary Detachment is okay… like for a few hours… but not too long because after that, you’ll becum like LostBalls…
L B, can we have a HO KWAI FAAN™ RETIREMENT CASTLE instead? Bigger, posh-er, luxurious-er, what else…
Oh yeah, Selamat Burpday, kat!
ps: After writing sucha looooong wan, can I just hv the ice creammmmm????
If life flew by during slow times and passed slowly during good times, it will become like Click. You won’t experience life.
**cocka counting Ah May’s bio-rhythm…25th, 26th, 27th, 28th days……**
I tried to read the post, but my eyes were glued to those Baskin cups! I want oneeeeeeee! Jamaica almond fudge please. (its 4.42pm, lapar tau!)
L B - 5 HUGGIES!! over-thinking is probably one of our default weaknesses, eh? can’t help but use that brain for totally useless things and wreck ourselves in the process. I wonder if it takes a rather detached person to see the bigger picture from above, ‘cos I’m certainly having some difficulty getting that high up for that aerial view! too attached, too attached. no storm in my teacup… yet! H U G S M U A K S L O T S X O X
p.s. when did it become an IGLOO? are we targeting the North or South Pole as headquarters?
jimbo - 3 HUGGIES!! I want, I want Bobot!! I loves your Bobot, can teach me how? you is Masta of Illustration! I’m still at kindergarten stage, not even padawan status yet ler.
The Silent Reader - 1 HUGGIE, and welcome to T H E H U G H U G C L U B™ list officially! hmmm, it does get quite lonesome, doesn’t it? everything has its pros and cons. depends on what we could live with at the end of the day.
TUX - ya lor, tell oredi, it becomes an expectation. and when it’s an expectation you can’t live up to, then it becomes a disappointment!! isshhhhh. detachment is good. we need to learn to multi-task more, doncha think? heheh!
SA - Take risks. Nuthin’ ventured, nuthin’ gained. I’m trying to live by that. yet sometimes, the heart can’t take the hurt and disappointment that comes along with the ride for just the chance of gaining the good stuff.
bkworm - take your time reading, take your time! it’s not going anywhere…
sheryl_alexis - thank you for that lovely compliment! may I take this opportunity to say that I enjoy reading yours too!
kat - ahhh, that’s the trick I really need to master! the balance of attachement and detachment, yin and yang, black and white, chocolate and potato chips, Star Wars and Phantom of the Opera. you’re most welcome on the message, it’s the least I could do! we’re still up for some good munching soon with the girls, yes? and shopping has always been a good therapy… *wink*!
ChristinE - sometimes the heart isn’t always right, babes. the head knows that. the problem is getting one to listen to the other, and figuring out which one’s the better decision-maker! mmmuuuaakks!
zeroimpact - soul food! chocolate? cakes? I think that little voice within is craving for salt & vinegar potato chips right now. too much sweet, must balance it out with a bit of salt. lots of salt, even! ah, true happiness would be being able to accept things as they are, and as they come, without demands, without regrets. hmmm… does that mean I have to be a nun?!
eve - those “early birds” live in other parts of the world where they’re still awake while we snooze away in our comfortable beds! LOL!! as for me, blame it on sleeping early, suddenly waking up in the middle of the night, and can’t go back to zzz!! now I’m feeling zzzz…
Kenny Ng - yessir! strong, sir! doing the best I can, like everyone else. Baskin Robbins is an all-time favourite with T H E H U G H U G C L U B™ bloggers! *grin*
angel - I hope I don’t get into these moods too often, sure go bankrupt very fast wan! LOLOLIULIULU!! eccentricity is always a quirky trait to have, and more often a blessing in a boringly normal world. hmmmm, detachment when the time calls for it, and attachement at all other times? Great Idea!! don’t want to have LostBalls liao! jom lezgo for that ice cream!!
I concur in requesting for a HO KWAI FAAN™ RETIREMENT CASTLE, on hills we could roll down and about, doing the peek-behind-palm-tree dance!!
gbyeow - holy cow, you got me there! ok, you’ve just earned the Words of Wisdom award. for now. till someone else comes up with a better advice. cheers, mate!
Cocka Doodle - aiyer, why your timing so off wan? way past it oredi lah. I think you need to reset your calendar and biological clock. better check on that radar too!
ubisetela - LOLOL!! I’m glad it’s already 5 p.m. plus in the evening for you at NZ, almost time to buka puasa! grab some ice-cream while you’re at it too. Jamoca Almond Fudge is one of my favourite Baskin Robbins flavour too!!
wah.. 3.35am… like hat how to be first wor! But I like the ice creams… rum and raisin, chocolate royale, chocolate chip?
Ahhhhh the Art of Detachment. That one I have mastered. Never show pain whatever! Not show of fear! No show of angst!
Hey someone nearly ran over my squirrel *bawls*
Ho Kwai Fan Teepee anyone? You get to make friends with the Bison….
I spy some comfort food there too, any for me?
the art of detachment.!! i like! hehe. hhmm…i do that sometimes…not wanting to rely on other ppl or interrupt ppl’s peaceful life and dowan to get too emotionally attached
but HEY gimme a scoope of MINT flavoured ice cream pls! i love mint!
nooooooooo i promise i wont detach from mint ice cream
Really? Awww.. i’m so touched now darling!
Mine is nothing much. Pretty simple but colorful, i believe.
Itching for a new gadget.. but I thought only men like those kind of things?
Hope it wasn’t a lay off that you have to do.. Those things are mean and bad.. and all for the benefit of the share holders.
velverse - if you sleep way early and wake up at 3:00 a.m. for a pee, you just might make it! LOLOL!! that’s what happened to me, and since I already had the post half-written, thought I’d finish it then. don’t think we had rum raisin that time, but that’s an excellent flavour too!! love that yumyum rummmm…
fantasyflier - Masta oh Masta of Detachment! are you willing to take me under your wing as your Padawan in training? *oops…* was that your squirrel I ran over? you gotta keep it together, soldier! no pain, no pain!! show no emotion!!
HO KWAI FAAN™ RETIREMENT TEEPEE sounds good too, does it come with feathers for our headbands? *passes a cup of icecream to flyboy*
Winn - another si-fu of Detachment!! I have a lot to learn, my mastas. Liucas could be my trainer in giving that HO KWAI FAAN look too. no mint ice-cream here, but we’ll have that the next round, how’s that? as long as I still get my jamoca almond fudge!
sheryl_alexis - simple and colourful is the best kind of blog to read! big pictures for eye-candy, easy to understand language, no decoding or deciphering required. isn’t that just wonderful?
Zara’s mama - I’ve been given the nickname “gadget girl” by some of my friends, LOLOL!! strange but I do have this thing for gadgets. not too complicated ones, of course. easy to use and really, really lovely designs are all it takes to get me interested! it wasn’t exactly a layoff, but close. close enough to make it uncomfortable to do it. ughhh…
Life is just like a box of chocolate..
Nope?
or.. life is just like a scoop of ice cream?
Wasabi-flavoured ice cream?
what am i crapping here?
I know i know..
i’m hungry
kat, happy birthday!!! and many happy returns of the day. these greetings r really overated, but my sincere wish of happiness and good health 2 u.
may, sori ar, tumpang kejap, how r u? things cool? muax.
*blur*
Chen - yes, it’s a box of chocolates, or All Time Favourite cookies in a tin, and definitely more than 31 Flavors at Baskin Robbins! here, have a scoop. or two. how about some salt & vinegar chips? I’m currently into those. so yummy!
ktx - all’s cool! tumpang all you like, darlin’. as long as you leave a comment for me when you do, LOL!!
ah nel - you need to rub your eyes abit? clear out those… errrr… sticky bits? or perhaps you need to wear prescription glasses to get a clearer vision?
*pat pat*
i had to tell my colleague some “bad news” too today…hahaha..remember the thing abt my car being scratched?well,it was scratched by my colleague lar actually..and i had to put on a thick thick face n just come up front n ask her to pay me for the damages…WAHAHAH
i can tell u it is NOT EASY..oh my gosh…
oh well..at least u have baskin robbins?
cheer up…its FRIDAY~~~
I know the heart gets slapped around. But it is resilient and if not exercised it never gets into the right groove. No one wins the game sitting on the bench. They get into the action. Just try and cut it off when you know it’s wrong. Really that can be the hardest part.
Naw… I doubt it

Nuns does not bake and cook
I’m very sure a lurkers around somewhere
Muahahaha
Or else we can just share the balancing of food… sweet and salt… bitter and sour… and what else ah?
i’m now hungry..
looking at the time..
wah, almost 1 am liao..
should be zzzz at this hour instead of thinking of the yummy salt & vinegar chips
how to sleep with hungry tummy?
must sapu something
enjoy the holiday season babes.
true, true my dear..
eh, do you like my new posting? it has a nice picture of coffe.
but to be detached means you are not alive. i know all these mixed feelings are not fun, but it just proves to you that you are alive and feeling. the saddest i think is when anything and everyone around you doesn’t affect u anymore. a little like zombie living. perhaps you can give a little hint to those that matter so much to you. i know it’ll freak ppl out if you let on that what they say/do make so much difference to you, but it’s also nice for them to know that someone values them so much and that they r making a difference in another’s life. a subtle hint perhaps?
or maybe just a ‘yr friendship means very much to me’.
Selamat DeepaRaya Ah May May!!!
Pink Cotton - waaaaa! your colleague did it?! LOLOL!! actually, I had a similar incident too, years ago when a colleague drove past me, squeezed too close and knocked my side mirror with his. when I got to the office, I smacked him on the shoulder! wakakakaka! but yours is a worse case, of course. good that you stood up to it! HAPPY FRIDAY TO YOU TOO!!
SA - right-o, nothing ever gets done or going when it’s just sitting on the bench!! in any case, it still needs to exercise with caution. probably the most difficult part is to know when, and be able to cut that part off. absolutely hardest part! *sigh* I need more wisdom.
zeroimpact - how you know I can’t be the kitchen nun leh? nuns need to have side hobbies too, ya know. can’t be stuck singing in the choir all the time! LOLOL!! don’t forget the assam boi and lollipops, gwai ling gou and caramel pudding, twisties and muruku…
Chen - did you eat dinner last night or not? are you having a craving? hmmmm… Doktor, lei yau chor ahh?? hahaha! ok ok, bad joke. you can slap my fingers the next time we meet up. gently, yea…
Jane - enjoy the weekend! and Happy Deepavali to you. any celebrations in London for you and hubs?
sheryl_alexis - that coffee pix looks darn good! I could’ve sworn I commented on your post yesterday, but when I checked this morning, I was nowhere to be seen! aarghhh! did I just get flushed from your comments box?
me - I want to be alive!! I want to be alive!! sometimes attachment just gets me into too much trouble, though. the usual problem of being too emotional about things. I have this innate fear that people might find me too “sticky” and “mengacau” once I do that. or maybe I’m just reading into situations too much… *grin* thanks for your thoughts, I do enjoy your sharing them with me.
titoki - Selamat RayaVali too you too, AhTiToKi!! enjoy your holiday!
i swear i will received all the comments through my mail but who knows…
it’s not only you darling, few of my blogger pals also are having the same prob. but.. why?
sheryl_alexis - hmmm, really don’t know. haven’t had to deal with Blogger problems for months now, whee!! maybe it’s a hint that you should get your own hosting… *wink wink*!! how about addictedtoshoes.com? or angeleyes.com? ahhh, the joys of selecting your own domain name!
aiyak, of course i makan lah…
hahhaha… unless if i’m too busy
i makan kebab and few kuihs for dinner yest night
*ahem*
or piak with roti jala? Hahhaha…
can i piak u with sotong for cincai cakap?
after being the evil one to ur colleague, ur car’s tyre still got air or not?
sounds good! but mind telling me how can i get my own hosting? any fees that i need to pay?
u shld be my ‘guru’ the. what say u?
Get the Wacom for more precise handling and ease
Btw, I’m more of a Haagan Daaz person than a Baskin Robins person
Chen - too busy at 1 a.m. in the morning?! ooooohhh… bedroomlympics?! I didn’t need to know that!! kebabs are great stuff, I miss the ones at Manly Wharf, Sydney. totally juicy and succulent! don’t piak with sotong ler… with sponge, can ah?
sengkor - got wor. maybe colleague dunno which one is my car kwa… *phew*!
sheryl_alexis - there are lots of hosting options you could take on, some relatively cheap too. I use Exabytes for mine, so does L B. reliable, since they host lots of sites for companies too. Ebiz 1 package should be more that sufficient! if you’re really serious into getting your own site, just let me know. no need to rush into it. think about it first, ya? *grin*
Emily - oh yes, that’s for sure! my wrists and arms are getting numb these days… Carpal Tunnel Syndrome? I certainly hope not! I like Haagen-Daaz too, their ice-cream fondue is absolutely to drool for!!
did i mention 1 am? mana? mana?
*paranoid*
hahahha.. definitely not busy with those multiple-O stuff..
If I’m busy during those wee hours till no time makan, mostly it’s work-related stuffs lah..
piak with sponge defeat the purpose of piaking..
cos we can’t get the “piakking” sound effect
despite all your show of confidence, i feel that deep down you are feeling very insecure. which i am sure your closest friends can tell you that you have no need to, if you confide in them. from what i know and hv seen of you, you are a most attractive person, inside and out. i know you just need someone to share with, someone to talk to. yr most precious gift is that you genuinely cares abt your friends and i’m sure they won’t feel tht you are ’sticky’ because they can feel your sincerity.
Chen - neh, up there you got say 1 a.m. mah… *points up*
poon yeh sam kan mm sai fann kau meh?! I can’t keep up with the other night jagas as well. I need my beauty sleep, otherwise I’ll be little grumpy may© instead lorrr! piak with wet sponge can be quite painful mmmkay… LOL!
me - when I read your comment, I did a double-take. indeed, I have been feeling rather insecure with the whole shebang of life and where it was leading to, and how I needlessly worry about things I shouldn’t be worrying about. I used to be able to stand firmly on both feet without having to rely on people for anything much. but now that the ground isn’t as stable as it used to be, I guess I’m having some difficulty in adapting to the fact that I can’t always solve things on my own, and not be afraid to reach out for help.
thank you, you’ve certainly helped me understand myself a little better. *smile*
