For the past few weeks, it was really living in the now. Making Oz a more long-term option than a quick 2-year getaway. A few more forn-ning sessions, bird-watching, some search for a new ride, getting all the necessities for a visa renewal done… well almost.

Finally submitted my application for a Return Resident Visa which would allow me to travel out and back again multiple times, but as I suspected, I didn’t get an automatic approval since I haven’t fulfilled the 2 years of stay. Have to see a JP to get some documents certified, to prove that I have “significant ties with Australia” for them to consider. Gah.

Finally booked a driver’s test with the RTA for early June. And even before taking the test, I’m already thinking of buying a car! What’s my flava? Yaris… Corolla… i30… I’m leaning towards the Mazda2 for now. Just because it’s too cute to resist. And one of the cheapest options, too. Zoom-zoom-zoom. I wonder if they’d let me buy a car with just an L?

Movie madness almost hit me full blast when I bought a new gadget — the LG DVD player, with HDMI (I can watch all those Uncle Joe versions), DivX and multi-format playback, which allows me to watch all those downloads on the big screen. Woo-hoo! I went crazy buying a few of my favourite classics. Mostly musicals. I just love ‘em to bits. Can’t get that tune out of my head…
